Title: Boomerang

The aboriginal men in Central Australia have traditionally made two main types of boomerangs for hunting. This classic boomerang was an important tool for hunting and fighting. The men protected themselves from the boomerang with a shield which was also usually shaped from the mulga tree as well. It can be shaped from the several trees which include the mulga tree and bush bean tree. The bush bean tree also yields a bean.  Today these boomerangs are still important in ceremonial activity. The men use two boomerangs to clap together for mens traditional dance(Purlapa Wirri) and for the ceremonies conducted during initiation.
